I spent six weeks in Wyoming with the Iowa State Geology Department. It was a required field course with about 15 other students. I had a blast! And then right after I got back, I was able to move in downtown with the rest of the guys and finish up SALT with them. God has been teaching so much stuff, it blows my mind. I feel like he just really cleared up in my mind what he wants out of me as a believer, and what I should be doing/thinking/praying. I'll be graduating this fall, and I think I may be going on staff full time with the church (though I'm not sure yet).

I can't wait to see what God has in store for me in the coming months

Phase I of operation "Drive Parents Nutty"

Christine and Bob are getting Long-Tailed lizards today from the pet store. That's 16 pages without figures or diagrams or anything. I am not really excited about this, mostly because I am taking 18 credits (5 classes) this semester, and none of them will be easy. I think I'm going to burn out by the end, but we'll see.

In other news, I found $20 beneath a grating on campus yesterday! I always check the snow banks for cash, but usually don't find any, so this is a welcome suprise. Yeah God for Free Money!

Monday, January 09, 2006

DOOM!
School Starts today.

I was in my first class for five minutes before my instructor let us leave. I bet my only other class today does the same thing, so I will have wasted a whole lot of time coming downtown for nothing.

Oh well, such is school.

winter). I rode downtown with on the train with my dad this morning and
walked him to his Amtrak train. He's going to Ann Arbor for a few days
to meet with a bunch of pastors. Already today, I've gone downtown,
waited 20 minutes with my dad in the train station, ate breakfast
(mmmm, sausage egg and cheese mcmuffin), ridden the bus to school,
froze my rear off, and studied for my exams today... and it's barely
8:00!
I have two finals today, one at 10:30 am and the other at 6:00pm. I
have a six hour gap between them, so I guess I have no excuse not to
study. But I'm happy, because after today, I am free until January!
Hurrah!

So far, I haven't spent any money (or at
least my own money) in the last 4 days. Even though I'm broke
(officially), I still am very tempted to spend a lot on food and stuff.
The only cash I've shelled out since Friday has been a ten dollar loan
to christing for her lunch.
This is the least amount of money I have had since I started going to
school 5 years ago. I wouldn't be so bad off, except I needed to pay
off not only my regular expenses (school, car insurance, train pass,
etc.) but also some other, unexpected purchases ($400 to replace
someones bumper, etc.) I think I am being responsible with my money...
well, maybe. I don't have a budget or anything like that, so I pretty
sure that I could be a little MORE responsible, but I don't care that
much.

Oh Well, I don't get another paycheck until the end of the month, so I
have to take it easy until the 29th. I think I can live off my $3 cash
until then.
The depressing
time where you can no longer wear t-shirts outside, or bask in the sun
on a warm morning. It is the time of year where you can expect snow
every other day, and expect to wake up when it is still VERY dark out
and chisel ice off of your windshield.

What was the cut off date for this? Well, I have my own theory.
Yesterday, the White Sox beat the Astros in the World Series. When I
woke up this morning (at 5:45) it was very dark, and when I walked out
to my car (6:30) I had to get out the ice scraper and chip the frost
off of my window. Yuck.

So I propose a new equation:
Day After the Last Day of Baseball = Months of Misery

I would attach a date to it, but it's hard to know how fast a team is going to win the Series.
I think it is also possible to predict how long it will take for a
World Champion to be declared, kindof like groundhogs day and the
shadow. I propose that if Cubs fans are still talking about making the playoffs
in October, then it's going to be a short Series.
Wednesday, September 21, 2005

I literally had three emails show up in a matter of a minute.
